28th February 2011

Totally fed up with not sleeping at night and wanting to during the day, body clock is totally stuffed and the clocks have not altered yet! god only knows what will happen to me when they do. I had yet another small altercation with the snooze button this morning before finally relenting and greeting the day.

I headed out and let the chickens out, I collected some eggs they had laid earlier, then headed in and made breakfast, I took it to Mrs W and woke our son, he has college today, but our daughter has an inset day, not content with a weeks holiday the teachers wanted an extra day off.

The personal carer came today as usual and had a new clocking in and out system, they have to call a number free phone I hope! and then they receive a callback which they do not need to answer, then on her way out she did the same, we did have a laugh as she struggled to get to grips with it this morning, we also had a laugh and a chat about certain things, that I could not possibly write in this blog, I am not sure who was more shocked myself or her at the conversation we ended up having!

I took our son to college then headed off on my price checking audits, I then headed home where the domestic carer was cleaning the house, typically Mrs W waited until the floor in the kitchen was cleaned and then asked to be wheeled to the bottom of the stairs so she could go upstairs, I do not know how she does it, but it is every-time they mop the floor she wants to go upstairs!

The carer left and myself Mrs W and daughter headed out to collect our son from college, after which we stopped off at a pub near to his college for lunch, then, we headed home and Mrs W had her nap, I headed out to collect a prescription for Mrs W which was more of a task than I thought it was going to be, with trips to the chemist and the doctors surgery before eventually the doctors surgery found it for me to head back to the chemist with it.

I headed home  and was left in peace as the children went out with friends, Mrs W had her nap and I was left to my own devices, could have gone to bed, but, then I suppose I would not sleep this evening, not that I am sleeping much anyhow lately! I really do not know what to do for the best. Trouble is if I take the sleeping tablets I sleep too sound and cannot wake the next day, if I don't I cannot function in the role of a husband, let alone the role of a father and carer!

We were meant to be visiting a friend tonight for a wine tasting evening, we do that from time to time, however, Mrs W has called it off as she still feels unwell, the doctor has given her a prescription for an anti biotic to conquer a water infection or at least a possible one, time will tell. I guess. So looks like we shall be heading to bingo tonight instead, still at least I can take some eggs to our friends who love them so much, they take as many as I take to bingo and they pay a good price for them too! Talking of bingo, Mrs W won £30 last night so our night out was free at Gala, plus we had free champagne too, it was a special evening and we had forgotten, maybe we would not have gone if we had remembered as usually the club is far busier on promotional nights.

27th February 2011

Woke this morning after a somewhat restless night, actually a terrible night sleeping or rather not sleeping as the case maybe. I woke feeling far more tired than when I went to bed last night, It felt like I had not slept for a week, what little sleep I did get did no good to me.

Anyway I struggled downstairs went out to let the chickens out of their coop, they scurried out and started scratching at the ground like there was no tomorrow, constantly clucking to each other, I find it amusing their little conversations they appear to have with each other while walking the garden, they are far from stupid despite what people think about them.

I headed back into the house with some eggs from the coop then I made breakfast for myself and Mrs W as well as a cup of tea, which I took up to her with her medication, on my way past the children's rooms I banged on their doors to wake them, they slowly got out and up for the day.

I was in the supermarket by ten am buying the groceries for the day, I like going earlier in the day I find it less busy and as a result a less stressful task, I prefer to go straight in and out of a store, so hate it when it is too busy.

I took the children to their shift at the pub after an early lunch so they could go to work, then headed home, had a shower to see if that would revive me, but it failed, I now have a headache too, which if I am not careful will turn into a migraine.

This afternoon we were supposed to be visited by a friend, but, they had to cancel due to a car breakdown, so, Mrs W headed to bed and got her usual nap, I was left watching a film on television a classic " The battle of the bulge"

I  then headed out and collected the children from their shift at the pub, nice to see that it is getting lighter in the evenings too, was still light when I collected them, the only trouble is it tends to mean children playing in the road and footballs hitting our car, not to mention the abuse I get when I ask them politely to move on and play elsewhere to protect our car.

26th February 2011

Woke this morning and headed downstairs, I let the chickens out, I had woken at 9am this morning as we are unable to visit my nan, she is still in hospital following her fall and is apparently still in a very bad way, to top it off the ward she is on has been closed to visitors following an outbreak of a virus. So we are unable to visit her, my mum has been moving furniture around for if and when she eventually comes out, this is to enable her to have her bedroom on the ground floor as well as her living accommodation.

I made breakfast for Mrs W and then headed upstairs with it and her medication, I woke the children and we then headed out of the house, stopping off at the Post office to post a couple of parcels my son had sold on Ebay, we then headed to visit my mum, Mrs W stayed home she is not feeling well, think she maybe calling the Doctor on Monday morning if she does not improve.

After visiting my mum I took the children to the pub for their shift, I then headed home and made Mrs W a cup of tea and then headed out to purchase some groceries and lottery tickets, I then headed back home and made myself and Mrs W some lunch, after lunch she headed to bed for her afternoon nap, I was left to do some laundry and collect the eggs from the Coop and then watched some television until it was time for me to collect the children from their end of shift at the pub.

I headed home with the children and then myself and Mrs W headed out to bingo, tonight will be Mecca, a change of scenery, plus I maybe  lucky enough to have a win of some significance, just lately all I seem to win are small amounts of £10.00 like that is going to make much of an impression to my bank account! Not that I am complaining, but I would much rather £100 or more !!

25th February 2011

I woke this morning and after a battle with the snooze button headed downstairs to make Mrs W some breakfast and a cup of tea, I also let the chickens out of their coop too, I wondered and the fantastic sunrise this morning, our whole sky was brilliant orange in colour and even our house in our street were bathed in a glow of orange, it looked like there was a blazing fire in the sky and on the ground too. I took a photo of it, you can see it HERE  The personal carer arrived and helped Mrs W with her shower and after she had gone , both myself and Mrs W headed back to bed. We went to bed sound and woke at 10am!

I headed out after waking and shaving and such to the local supermarket for some groceries, then headed home again, the children were finally awake too by now, we headed out to lunch at a local pub, then headed home when Mrs W went to bed for her afternoon nap. I had my appointment confirmed for my colonostopy along with medication and instructions for diet and preparation before hand too. Luckily most of the foods I like I am still able to take before hand, much to my relief!

No school run this week as it has been half term, boy has it been a welcome break not to carry out the school run, I have managed to get a few well deserved lie ins as a result. I am finding it difficult sleeping at night lately and will easily drop off to sleep during the day, sometimes not wanting to get up in the mornings when I should be doing so. Mystery shopping visits seem to be thin on the ground lately too, I wonder if that is as a result of companies making cut backs due to the current financial situation we are in. Maybe customer service is a lesser priority to them right now, maybe they figure they can do without the mystery shopper at this hard time?

We are heading out visiting friends tonight, no bingo, for a change, see I can do more than go to bingo for those of you who think otherwise.

24th February 2011

Woke this morning at 6am and was concerned not to hear the chickens clucking, I went back to bed and then slept somewhat uneasy, still could not hear the chickens and was beginning to have all kinds of horrid thoughts that something had happened to them, I woke for the second time and still could not hear the chickens, this time however I made my way downstairs to make breakfast for Mrs W and myself, I am ashamed to say it was now 9:30am. I headed out and let the thankfully safe chickens out of their coop for the day.

By the time we got ready for the day and I had tackled a massive pile of laundry we headed out as a family to a pub for lunch, I have to say had it been a mystery visit they would have scored surprisingly low in my estimates, I ordered 4 meals and only 3 arrived at the table, then, they wanted to charge me for their mistake! I refused to pay. They made no argument in that, I also found a small insect crawling in my salad at the very end of my meal, I then began to wonder how or if they had cleaned the salad at all.

We headed home and as I was taking Mrs W into the house in her wheelchair I was called by the hospital to arrange my colonoscopy, it is now booked for the 30th March, not too far away thankfully! my symptoms are still giving me cause for concern and I cannot wait to find out one way or the other what the problem is.

Mrs W went for her afternoon nap and I was left watching television and doing yet more laundry in between. This evening we were meant to be seeing a friend, but, they have not confirmed so, in the event they do not we shall be heading to Gala bingo for free bingo night instead.

23rd February 2011

Took my blood pressure last night prior to going to bed it was 165/105 not great to say the least, mind you it could be high as a result of worry the last couple of weeks I guess, still I need to keep a close eye on it as it could lead to serious damage if left untreated.

I woke this morning just after 6am and headed downstairs, I went into the kitchen and heard the chickens making a hell of a noise outside, so I headed out and let them out before they woke anyone locally, they seemed unsettled too for some reason, maybe they had a visitor they did not approve of or something?

I headed into the lounge and checked my blood pressure, it was far more acceptable this morning 138/97, still slightly high but a much healthier and less worrying level thankfully, I made breakfast for myself and Mrs W and took hers to her, I headed back downstairs and took my medication before finally getting ready for the day.

The personal carer arrived and helped Mrs W with her shower and dressing, I headed out on my price checking audits to the three supermarkets I have been doing, still no sign of them ending despite messages from the mystery shopping company stating they will be a short term contract!

I headed home from my audits and discovered Mrs W had gone shopping with her carer, I filed my reports on the audits and she arrived home shortly after I had finished. I was actually playing on the Playstation 3 and failed to see her arrive home. I did eventually realise she was there and headed out to assist the carer in bringing Mrs W into the house along with the shopping.

We were visited by my brother and  sister in law today, they had come down from Birmingham last night to spend time with family including us, I think that they wanted to hear  the news about my recent health worry first hand and to check I was actually still okay despite all that is happening to me, they took our children out for the day or in his words " Tim, can we steal the children for the day?" I replied "sure no problem, no hurry to bring em back either!" Mrs W and I headed out and had a snack lunch in a nearby pub, we then headed home and she went for her afternoon nap.

I was left to please myself really watching television, play on the Playstation generally laze around, until later when they return home, Mrs W and I are heading to Mecca bingo tonight half price bingo and half price curry and a drink. Maybe we will win our cost back too?

22nd February 2011

Got up this morning had a very sore throat and headache, plus spent much of last night releasing air that had been pumped into me to aid them with the Endoscopy, my stomach feels bloated too, I have a loss of appetite and everything I eat just seems to irritate my throat, however despite this I headed downstairs made breakfast for myself and Mrs W, I then went out and let the chickens out of the coop. I headed back upstairs and woke the children and then I headed out to the supermarket to purchase the groceries for the day.

My mother in law came round to collect the children and took them out for the day to her place, so myself and Mrs W could have some time to ourselves, I got to see my Niece too, my how she has grown since the last time I saw her! so happy and shy at the same time, mind you it could be that I have not seen her in what seems like ages!

After my mum in law left myself and Mrs W headed out for a meal in a local pub together, I had ordered a dessert, but, I struggled to eat my main meal, I hope things will improve with my throat shortly! still if nothing else, I know that there is nothing sinister inside my upper bowel and throat etc, but, I now have the pending colonostopy to look forward too!

We headed home and Mrs W headed to bed for her regular afternoon nap, I was able to relax on the sofa, I actually fell asleep too, something I rarely do, so, I must be feeling under the weather. My blood pressure was high yesterday and today I checked it at home and it was 140/96 pulse 91 hmmmm! so despite taking my medication it seems to be a little high at present, not surprising really I guess given all that I am going through.

I headed out to collect our children from my mum in law and then dropped our son off at the pub, he has an extra shift, but is being dropped home for me later. We shall be heading to Mecca bingo tonight for a change of venue and scene, it was strange, as last night the bingo caller from Mecca was at Gala and he won! I mean how dare he!

Monday, 21 February 2011

21st February 2011

Woke at 6:00am this morning to allow me to have some breakfast and drink before 6:30am and to get Mrs W her breakfast, my last meal for several hours as later today I have my Endoscopy test, the personal carer came in and helped Mrs W with her shower, however  I headed out and carried out the store audits I have been carrying out recently, not an easy task auditing a food supermarket on an empty stomach I tell you. Everything looked even more delicious than usual!

I headed home and filed my report, the domestic carer was finishing off the house work and I filed my reports on the three audits. I then headed out with my mum to the clinic for my Endoscopy, I waited in the reception area for a short while and then I was called in to the clinic. The doctor carried out the test and at the end I was told that I would need further investigations, I was told I need a Colonoscopy test now to enable them to come to a fuller conclusion of what my medical problem is in full.

I headed home and on our way home my mum and I got held in a massive line of traffic, when we got to the front of the line we could see a car had mounted a safety barrier and as a result the traffic was being forced into one lane causing massive tail backs. My mum dropped me off home and I was finally able to eat again, she bought me a cheese sandwich and never before has a humble cheese sandwich looked so scrummy!

I cooked dinner for us all and fed the chickens and then headed out to bingo at Gala, I hope I dont have to shout out too many times tonight, my throat feels really sore as a result of the endoscopy test.

20th February 2011

Well, what can I say, it is great to know the children are trying to make light of my recent troubles, they played a practical joke on me last night and made it look like I had made a mess over the toilet, using toilet rolls I went to use the loo and I was confronted with their efforts, it did make me smile, it is good to know that even in adversity we are all coping or at least trying too with humour take a look at their efforts HERE

I had a restless night last night and was up firstly at 6.30am, not really needed but I did head out and let the chickens out before they made too much noise and wake the neighbours on a Sunday morning, then I headed back to bed where I attempted to get some more sleep and failed, so, I got up for the second time at 8.30am where I made breakfast and sorted out the medication for myself and Mrs W.

I took the breakfast up to Mrs W at around 9am, I woke the children up too. I watched some comedy program while eating my breakfast. I then headed to the supermarket with our plastic bottles and bought the days groceries, I returned home and we were visited for the morning by my mum in law, she had a coffee and we chatted, she was asking about my recent scare and then gave me the usual nag from mother in law about looking after myself. We had a bacon sandwich and she took the children to work for me on her way home.

I had a shower, Mrs W had her afternoon nap and I tried and failed to improve my ranking on Call of Duty black ops PS3 game. I really do not know how people get the hang of it, it is so fast!

I headed out to collect the children from their shift at the pub and returned home to make dinner, tonight myself and Mrs W are heading out to visit friends, I am not sure I will cope without bingo!. ( Only Joking) It will be nice to chat instead of doing the usual bingo we have been doing I am sure.

Saturday, 19 February 2011

19th February 2011

I woke this morning and made breakfast as usual and then headed out to let the chickens out, I headed upstairs and woke the children, today we usually see my nan and mum, however my nan is still in hospital so we just have my mum to see. It seems that my nan has finally seen sense and is having her bedroom furniture moved downstairs and she is allowing social services to come and check on her once a day, I think the recent fall she encountered and being laid there for 2 nights have made her think long and hard. I am just sorry it took that to happen for her to realise she does need help now.

I took our son to his shift at the pub, our daughter stayed off work today due to feeling a little under the weather, best play it safe as she is handling food after all, see how she is tomorrow I guess. We headed home and Mrs W had some lunch before heading to bed for her nap. Just before she did so, I opened the post and it was Halifax bank, they were concerned about activity on my account, apparently someone had cloned my card details and had tried to wipe my account clean, luckily now I have my card cancelled and a new one on the way, they know what machine my card was cloned at too, amazingly.

I took our daughter to Argos as she was not too ill to go shopping, but was for work! I just hope she will not make a habit of calling in sick. I have every belief she won't but you never know what is going on in a teenagers mind!

We then headed to a supermarket before heading home where our daughter headed out and I was left watching a movie for a while as well as eating Jelly Babies. I seem to have become addicted to them at the moment. I also headed out to purchase our lottery ticket too.

I collected our son from work and then headed home to make some dinner, before heading out for the night to bingo, tonight is is only £5 for all our bingo at Mecca.

Friday, 18 February 2011

18th February 2011

Had a struggle waking this morning and the reality of myself possibly having cancer is growing ever stronger, deep down I pray that it is nothing more than an ulcer, but, knowing my family history and the health issues I have faced in the past are increasingly concerning me, I try and reassure my family and Mrs W but it is becoming a tiresome and emotionally and physical drain on me.

I made breakfast for myself and Mrs W, woke the children for the day and then took my medication, I was heading upstairs to shave and get ready for the day when I saw a shadow at our front door, I have no idea how long they had been there, but it was the personal carer for Mrs W. It seems she had thought she had pressed the bell, but had not. She was stood patiently in the cold dark morning!

The chickens made it clear that they were ready to come out of their coop and I headed out to let them out. I then headed upstairs while Mrs W was in the shower and had a shave and such, I then waited for her to leave the bathroom and finished getting ready for the day, to be honest sometimes it is like a military operation finding time to get the bathroom sometimes!

I headed put with the children to school and college. Then headed to the supermarket for groceries, I could not help but notice all of a sudden there are adverts for Mothers day and Pancake day, everywhere I looked, the real annoying thing is none of the supermarkets make a fuss over fathers day as much, yet, we are supposed to live in an equal society! some fathers do far more than the mothers for their children, yet even at school it is the mothers who are worshipped and the fathers normally forgotten!

After the school and college as well as shopping I returned home to find the domestic carer was in cleaning the home, much appreciated by me I can tell you! I hate housework with vengeance, especially when I am the only one doing it. The carer gives me a break from it. For which I am very happy.

I had to go to bed while the domestic carer was here as I felt in so much pain and very tired beyond my dreams, I slept for a good 2 hours. I was woken by Mrs W and we had lunch together.

Mrs W went to bed for her afternoon nap and I was left watching a movie, as well as enjoying some me time and a nap on the sofa, I am feeling very tired lately, not sure if that is a result of not being well, or, a result of all the medication I am on, or indeed a combination of the two! I also have a loss of appetite and keep feeling nauseas. All worrying symptoms overall.

I headed out to collect the children from college and school, then, headed home, we had a visit from a good friend of ours and she stayed a short while, then myself and I headed out to Gala bingo for the evening.

Thursday, 17 February 2011

17th February 2011

Well what a day, firstly I had planned to get up and take the car to the dealers so they could look at a fault they found during a routine service, I set the alarm but, I had not set it correctly and I had not heard it go off, luckily though I was sort of awake and I heard our daughter heading out of the door to school so I was able to wake up. I was a little later than I should have been dropping the car into the dealership. I collected the courtesy car and headed to a local supermarket and carried out our shopping for the day, I then headed home and Mrs W and I played on the Playstation 3 for a while.

Then we took our son to college and also had lunch together, while at lunch I had a telephone call from the cat dealer, they explained they had not fixed the car as promised but had to order parts to enable the job to be completed, I was able to collect our car as soon as I liked, I dropped our son off at college, then headed home and dropped Mrs  W off so she could get her afternoon nap, then headed back to the dealership to collect our car, they cleaned our car for us too, very nice of them. I then collected our daughter from school and started to make my way home, I had actually got very near to our home when I realised I had not collected our son from college, so, I had to head back on myself to collect him, we eventually met him and took him home too. I did feel a fool for forgetting him!

I had an Email today too, stating my nan was making good progress and with a little TLC she will be home in a couple of days and rehydrated as well as nourished again too, having had a night on her bedroom floor until being found must have really shook her up if nothing else. In that Email I also found out, my dad, who for personal reasons I no longer speak too or indeed have any communication with any longer has bowel cancer, just what I needed to hear in light of recent developments to my health!

This evening we are heading to Gala bingo it is free bingo night tonight. Bingo is so much more entertaining and mind enhancing than staying in front of the television, we have made some great friends too, something I am sure will keep us in good stead the next few weeks.

Wednesday, 16 February 2011

16th February 2011

Woke this morning and as soon as the alarm clock went off, I jumped out of bed and bounded downstairs to make breakfast for my self and Mrs W I then headed out side and let the chickens out of their coop for the day and they too seemed to have a spring in their step too, clucking contently as they strolled out into the garden.

I took breakfast up to Mrs W and as I went past the children's doors I woke each one up in turn, they were less enthusiastic, especially our son, who despite being woken by me and having been woken by Mrs W was still asleep and only had 5 minutes to get ready so I could take them  on the school and college run, the carer came in and helped Mrs W with her shower and we had a laugh and a joke with her, winding Mrs W up at the same time.

I headed out and after dropping the children off I headed to my three price checking audits, then headed home to find Mrs W had managed to go shopping with her carer so I filed my reports in a very peaceful house and managed to get some " me time" Mrs W was bought back home and I made some lunch for us both, I had a telephone call just as Mrs W was heading to bed for her afternoon nap from the hospital, I have a date for my Endoscopy, it will be the 21st February, I was surprised at how quickly it has come through too.

I then headed out later in the afternoon to collect our daughter from school, our son headed home from college on the bus, while he was making himself some lunch he noticed one of the chickens had made a break for it and was in next doors garden, not sure how she got out, that side of the fence is secure, to my knowledge anyway. He went round and fetched her back.

This afternoon I also had an email, my nan is back in hospital after badly falling on the weekend, she was only discovered last night and taken to the hospital by ambulance, she managed to get to her phone and call my sister who drove to find her laying on her bedroom floor and called the ambulance service.

Tonight we are heading to Mecca bingo as it is their curry night and it is on special offer of £2.49 which includes a free pint too, plus once again we might just win the cost of our meal and bingo back too.

Tuesday, 15 February 2011

15th February 2011

Woke this morning at 9am, the children caught the bus to college and school today so we could have the extra time in bed. I headed downstairs and made breakfast and a cup of tea and sorted out the medication for Mrs W and myself then took it to her. I got ready for the day and we had a friend round for the morning, lots of chat and cups of tea consumed before he left, then, I headed out to the local shops for groceries.

At lunch myself and Mrs W  headed to a pub nearby to our son's college where we all had lunch together before heading home when Mrs W went to bed for her afternoon nap, my son and I played on the Play station 3 together, I surprisingly beat him at a racing game, a little more retro in looks and feel to the usual games we play, I wonder if that was the reason why I found it so much easier to play and win than the usual games we play together.

I headed out to collect our daughter from school and then headed home and watched some day time television, the realisation that the news from the GP yesterday has been hovering over me all day today, earlier today I took a sample to the surgery to be checked for an ulcer and the small risk that I may have bowel cancer. I hope I will not have to wait too long for my Endoscopy and results from my sample.

We had an amazing night last night in the Italian and tried many new foods due to the  gift card  we had at Christmas from my brother and sister in law. We both had meals we would not have even dreamt of having as we knew the meal was going to be cheaper as a result, they had balloons and hearts, candles and soft lighting as well as music playing to get everyone in the loving mood.

We headed to bingo following our meal and we took some eggs to our friends there, they gave myself and Mrs W  a glass of bubbly upon entry and they had body shop selling their products much cheaper, so, I purchased Mrs W a bottle of perfume she liked the smell of on our way home, we had a bottle of Champagne to end the evening off. All in all a lovely evening.

Monday, 14 February 2011

14th February 2011

Woke this morning feeling a little tired and unmotivated, I headed downstairs and made breakfast for Mrs W and myself, then took hers up to her as well as her medication . We exchanged valentine cards and presents late yesterday as we knew we had a carer in this morning.

I let the chickens out of their coop, they seemed very willing and headed straight out no questions asked, unlike me who struggled to wake. I then headed back indoors and woke the children up, the carer came and helped Mrs W with her shower and dressing
and  Myself and the children headed out on the college and school run, the traffic was pleasantly light, most unusual  for Bristol on a Monday morning, but, I was not going to complain. I sailed through the school and college run, then headed out on my price checking audits, I only carried out two today as I had made a doctors appointment to see how things are going since coming off the anti depressants last week. I made it to my appointment and after asking me varying questions she decided it was best for me to continue taking them a while longer and prescribed me another 2 months worth, I also mentioned another problem I have been having recently and she examined me and asked me to provide varying samples in the next day or two, also she is referring me for an Endoscopy  too, she suspects I may have an ulcer.

I headed home and made my reports on the audits, then made Mrs W and I some lunch. Mrs W headed to bed for her afternoon nap and I was able to sit and watch a movie on one of the many movie channels we have.

I then headed out to collect our daughter from school, our son caught the bus home as he finished at 12.15pm I returned home and got ready to take Mrs W out for a meal at our favourite Italian, a treat for valentine day. We will return home and enjoy a bottle of Champagne and some quiet time together with dim lights etc, no bingo tonight, it will seem strange.

Sunday, 13 February 2011

13th February 2011

Had a restless night last night, not sure if it is a result of coming off the anti depressants or not, but failed to get any decent sleep despite all efforts. I was awoken by the chickens clucking persistently, so I headed out in my dressing gown to discover they had already been let out however their coop door had blown shut hence  the noise they were making.  I headed back to bed to have an attempt to gain more sleep but failed, so, I got up, made breakfast and got ready for the day.

Last night we went to Gala bingo and won £100.00 not bad, it will come in useful tomorrow night when I take Mrs W out for a valentine meal at our favourite Italian.

After I got ready for the day I headed to the local supermarket and purchased the days groceries, however I got their half an hour early and was only able to browse until the store opened, must remember that in future. I also filled the car with diesel for the week too, what a price that is now too!

I headed home in time to take our son to his shift at the pub, I enjoyed a quick drink  with him before he started his shift, then I headed home where I made Mrs W some lunch and had a shower, then settled down to watch some television, I also collected the eggs from the coop. It is so nice to be having 4 eggs a day now, they taste wonderful too.

It was soon time for me to head out into the foul weather to collect our son from his shift at the pub, I got their a little early and enjoyed a half of cider by the fireplace, mindful I had already had a half earlier when dropping our son off. Our daughter by the way is out today with Mrs W's mum for the day, she has a day off from her shift at the pub.

This evening we are once again venturing to Gala bingo in the hope we can add to our recent spell of good luck there.

Saturday, 12 February 2011

12th February 2011

I woke this morning at 8am, I got ready for the day and gave Mrs W her medication, I woke the children and then we headed out to visit my nan and mum, Mrs W stayed home, she said she did not feel well. She stayed in bed for a while longer.

We arrived at my nan's house and she did not look at all well, she seemed to be acting strange. Very forgetful too, I am concerned for her, she even got very  confused and also fell asleep, we cleared up after our drinks and left early so she could rest.

We arrived at my mums house earlier than usual as a result, I weighed myself at my mums and I am glad to report I am 9.5 stone or 60kg, the weight I have been for a long time now so at least I am not far off my ideal weight, Just have to convince myself that dessert be it free or not is a bad idea!

I took my daughter to her shift at the pub, our son has a day off and is spending the afternoon with his girlfriend, I headed home with our son and he headed out, Mrs W headed to bed for her afternoon nap and I was left on my own, I watched a part of an old black and white movie starring John Wayne, "fort Apache" then headed out to our local park in search of some spring like images. you can see them HERE.

Afterwards I headed out to collect our daughter from her shift at the pub and also imbibing in a pint of cider while I waited. We headed home and then Mrs W and I headed to Mecca bingo again, they have a special valentine weekend deal 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £9.99. plus we might win the cost back at bingo too!

11th February 2011

Well what a night we had last night, we had so much fun we lost all track of time, before we knew it, it was gone midnight and we failed to get home until 1am! I had to be up at 6am for the carer to call, however having had only 5 hours sleep if that, I called the on call number to cancel the carer and told the children to catch the bus to school so I and Mrs W could catch up on some sleep, the journey home from our friends was a bit daunting not only were there very little street lights it was extremely foggy too adding to the nightmare of being later home!

I did manage to wake and get the children to go to school and college and despite having called the carers agency, the carer still called, our son explained that I had cancelled  and she went away no questions asked, once again the carers agency show they do not care enough to communicate their clients wishes to the carers!

When I woke for the second time to my shock I had a message on my mobile phone and on that message was a photo of another carer friends car, she had been in a bad accident and had her car written off by a careless driver, luckily though upon me calling them, she is fine, only whip lash and bruising as a result, plus she is a little shaken up obviously. I haven't told you what time I woke up for the second time yet as I am a little embarrassed to say,..... Okay you win, 11.08am! there, you satisfied now?!

After hurriedly getting ready for the day, missing breakfast as it was so late, I had a mystery pub visit to carry out nearby, we both had lunch. Brunch whatever it was called and then I placed our plastic bottles into the recycling point nearby, before heading home for Mrs W to have her nap, I went to the local shops for some groceries prior to heading out on the school and college run to collect the children.

This evening we are going to try our luck at Mecca bingo, I mean it is about time they paid a big win to us, if they want to keep up with the recent spell of good luck I have had at Gala bingo that is, they had better show me the money!

10th February 2011

what a stroke of luck we had last night at Gala bingo, the very last game of the first half I won £100.00 and then went on to win the very first game back of £120.00. I could not believe my luck! it is only to everyone else that sort of luck befalls on, or at least I thought.

Woke this morning and headed downstairs, Mrs W and our son were still asleep, our daughter had got up let the chickens out and headed to school on the bus. I made breakfast and then headed back upstairs to hand it to Mrs W along with her medication, on my way past our sons bedroom I woke him up, I then headed out of the house to the shops and also to get my hair cut.

As we had a win at bingo last night and our son had a late start at college we headed to a pub nearby to his college for some lunch, I even had a dessert, I know I should not but, it looked so tempting and it was FREE too! even more temptation! We dropped our son off at college on our way home and then Mrs W headed to bed for her nap.

I checked on the chickens and thankfully they were all present and correct no further attempts to escape had been made and no further repairs to the fencing were needed! I then had an hour to watch a film on television before heading out to collect our children from school and college, I then headed home, had a shower and tonight we are visiting some friends, no bingo, just pleasant conversation, meal and a sociable drink.

9th February 2011

Woke this morning with surprising ease compared to a few of my mornings lately, headed downstairs and let the chickens out, then made breakfast for Mrs W and myself and sorted the medication out for the day too, headed upstairs with Mrs W's breakfast and then woke the children for the day, I have to say the chickens seem to have more life in them than they do lately!

The carer came in and helped Mrs W with her shower and dressing and after breakfast I took the children to school and college, I then headed off on my price checking audits, I headed home to discover the domestic carer had been and gone well before her allotted time, again!

I filed my reports on the audits and then had some lunch with Mrs W. After lunch Mrs W headed to bed, just as she was doing so, next door came round and told me that 2 of our chickens had escaped into his garden and asked me to retrieve them. I did so and once again repaired their fence to stop our chickens escaping.

I then had a few moments on the PS3 before collecting our daughter from school, our son had caught the bus home from college.

This evening we are heading to Gala bingo, not Mecca as usual, we figured if we change club we might increase the chances of winning! we can dream can't we?

8th February 2011

I allowed the children to go to school and college on the bus this morning to enable myself and Mrs W to have a lie in, I heard our son get up and scurry around in a hurry at around 7.25am. first time I got woke, then I heard Mrs W getting up and talking to our daughter who, by the time I woke should have been at school or at least on the bus, she told us that none of the buses had arrived so far and she was popping home for some money to spend in the shop while waiting for the bus, me, I think she overslept and never actually made it to the bus stop on time, I know she was on her gaming console until late last night as was our son.

Eventually I woke, got up and made breakfast for Mrs W and myself as well as sorting out the medication for the day, then, I had a shower and after which I headed to the local shops for groceries. I then headed home and had to help Mrs W with some personal hygiene that she is no longer able to carry out, to some men doing such tasks are a luxury and a rare occurrence , however I find myself doing it more and more lately and as such it does not excite me as much as it used to, not that I don't enjoy the experience of being close with Mrs W but when things become a chore rather than an enjoyable experience as it used to be it puts a different spin on the task in hand.

After which we headed out to a cheap pub near to where our son studies at college and we had a meals together before heading home, when we got home it seems one of our neighbours had done some repairs to our gate, I suspect one of the chickens had found their way out,  I will of course have to check with the
neighbour later and thank him/her/ them for rescuing our chicken from the dangers of the big bad world.

I spent some time with my son on the PS3 prior to heading out to firstly get some fuel in the car and then collecting our daughter from school, I then returned and had a light tea before heading out with a fellow carer to Gala bingo for the evening for their free bingo evening. Mrs W and my fellow carers husband stayed at our place for the evening looking after each other.

7th February 2011

We went to bingo last night at Gala and won £20.00 not bad but still not great. Could do with  a bigger win than that to be honest, but then who couldn't?? I was two numbers away from winning £10,000 on a link game called the high 5 and amazingly only 1 number away on the linked late flyer too! the closest I have ever come on linked games in all my years of playing bingo at Gala!

I woke this morning and headed downstairs to make Mrs W her tea and toast and to let the chickens out, I had seemingly got loads of spam email over night thankfully my mobile phone was left on silent or I would have never got any sleep!

Then I headed back upstairs to wake the children up, no easy task I might add!. I headed down and had my breakfast and then before I knew it the carer came and helped Mrs W with her shower and get dressed, some of you are asking why I or indeed we have a carer, it is not only to help Mrs W but also to help ease the daily strain of being a full time carer for me too.

Anyway the carer left and myself and the children headed out on the school and college run, then it was off on my regular price checking audits. They are due to come to an end soon, not sure when but they keep extending the period of carrying out the audits, for which I am grateful of course. The money comes in handy, I came home to find the domestic carer had been and gone already, I am sure I will find fault with the cleaning at some point, she was hardly here long enough! I filed my reports and then myself and Mrs W headed to a local pub near to the college our son attends, where we had some lunch.

We headed home and Mrs W went to bed for her nap, my son and I collected the eggs from our chickens and today we had the first from our new chicken "Hilda" it was tiny in comparison to the other hens we have had for a while, but, it was perfectly formed and most definitely and egg!

I headed out to collect our daughter from school and then came home, we had a light tea and myself and Mrs W went to Mecca bingo. I can see a theme developing in our evenings entertainment here, Bingo,! we might even take some eggs to our friends who like to have some from us as they say and I agree our eggs taste superior to shop bought ones, well, when I say our eggs, I do mean our chickens eggs, I mean we do not actually lay them!!

6th February 2011

Well we went to Mecca last night and failed to win a big amount but we did win £10, that just about paid for the drinks food and fuel to get there if nothing else I guess. We headed home from bingo and went to bed, I woke this morning at 9am, I headed downstairs and let the chickens out of their coop before making a cup of tea and sorting out the days medications for myself and Mrs W. I then headed out to the local shops for some electric and gas on our pre pay meter and some groceries for the day.

Mrs W myself and children headed to mum in laws for a brunch, we took some of our eggs to eat too, we also discovered how to make a tune on the rim of a wine glass, we tried varying amounts of water in them to alter the pitch and tone of the tune. Little things please and amuse as they say.

I took the children to their shift at the pub and Mrs W stayed with her mum and had a cup of tea, myself I sat in the pub chatting to the landlord, he has been skiing  and was telling me all about it over a pint. I headed back to collect Mrs W. We headed home and Mrs W went to bed, I checked on the chickens to discover one had escaped into next doors garden through their broken fence, I managed to coax the chicken back into our garden and seal the gap it had got through, I then headed out and bought some wire netting to seal the fence more securely.

I then headed out to collect the children from the shift at their pub and myself and Mrs W are heading to Gala bingo tonight as it is cheaper than Mecca.

Saturday, 5 February 2011

5th February 2011

This morning we woke and headed out to see my nan and my mum as usual on a Saturday morning, then, we headed back to our place for a short while before taking the children to their shift at the pub they work at, thankfully last night our son managed to get a lift home from his late shift so I did not have to turn out in the awful gales we have been battered with the last couple of days.

As we dropped our children off myself and Mrs W stopped off for a pub lunch, when I went to pay for the meal they gave us a "staff discount" while I was out I had a telephone call from Argos about my watch that I bought back in December time apparently they had been unable to shorten the strap any further despite having had the watch for nearly 6 weeks!. I had a bit of a row with the young girl behind the counter and eventually I got a manager to deal with me and in the end not only did I get a new watch, but, I also got £5.00 off it too, needless to say I chose a more expensive watch than the one originally purchased and I steered clear of a bracelet watch too!

I headed home from Argos satisfied that I had won the battle against Argos and their total lack of competence, I have never had such bad service from them, crucially I hope I never ever do in the future.

I headed out to do our lottery tickets and buy groceries, then it was time for me to go and collect the children from the pub at the end of their shift, Mrs W and I then headed to bingo at Mecca tonight, in the vague hope we will once again have a win!

4th February 2011

I woke this morning feeling under the weather, Mrs W cancelled her carer so I could have a lay in, I woke the children and gave them money for the bus, I headed back to bed, shortly after or so it seemed our son is asking Mrs W if she required the carer, it seems despite me calling the on call number they had not informed the carer we no longer required them and they came anyway. I drifted back to sleep and was woken again at 10am, the second carers agency had turned up also, despite having cancelled them. Wonder what can be so hard about passing on a message not to come. The children headed to school and college on the bus, I have a feeling my feeling under the weather could be as a result of only 6 hours sleep due to having to collect our son from his shift at the pub late last night?

Anyway despite a slow start to the day, I had to take some shoes to the hospital for adaptation for Mrs W and then afterwards I headed to the local shops for some groceries. After which I headed home and helped Mrs W get ready for the day, we then had lunch and Mrs W headed to bed for her nap, I was left watching television while I also waited to go out into the blustery day to pick up a prescription for Mrs W and then the children from school and college, tonight we are going to Mecca bingo and our son has another shift at the pub, however I am hoping he will catch the bus there and get a lift home so I can have a relatively early night to make up for last night.

3rd February 2011

I was woken by the chickens clucking loudly again this morning, I had given instructions to our daughter to let the chickens out before she headed to school on the bus so myself, Mrs W and our son could have a lay in as none of us had anything urgent to get up for, our son starts later at college today and we have no carers in. It seems she woke later than expected and did not let them out!

After waking up and letting the chickens out I headed back to bed for a while and then woke for the second time. I helped Mrs W get ready for the day before heading to the local shops for some groceries, I then had the bright idea of heading to Weston to take a look at the new Grand Pier, I was well impressed, however I did make one observation, how pricey everything seemed to be since it's rebuild, I guess it has to be paid for and once again us as the customers are the ones left picking up the bill, or so it seems. We had lunch at Tiffany's the end of pier tea rooms. very posh and very nice, if a little pricey, however at least I was able to have a pint of lager with my posh sandwich!

We headed home and Mrs W went to bed for her afternoon nap, I hurriedly posted some photos on facebook you can see them HERE  And then I headed off to collect the children from school and college. We headed home where I was informed we had no chicken feed left, so I headed out to buy some and then  I cooked some dinner for us all.

This evening we are heading to Gala bingo as it is free bingo night tonight, we may even meet some friends there tonight too, they have been banging on about meeting us there so maybe they will finally pick up the courage and take action on their words!

This evening our son has a shift an unexpected shift at the pub he works at, he will catch the bus to work but, unless he can get the last bus home of a lift then I will have to head out at 11.20pm to collect him at the end of his shift at 11.30pm.

2nd February 2011

I woke this morning and put the snooze button into action, then, had second thoughts and forced myself to jump out of bed and head downstairs to make breakfast and to let the chickens out for the day. I took Mrs W her breakfast and medication as well as a cup of tea, I woke the children up before heading back downstairs and then going into the garden to let the chickens out of their coop.

The carer arrived and helped Mrs W with her shower and I sat and watched all the doom and gloom on the news, I cannot believe all the events going on right now, the unrest in Egypt and the floods and cyclone affecting Australia, the blizzards in parts of America to name a few!

I took the children to school and college, before heading out on my regular price checking audits around Bristol, I used the chance to buy today's groceries too, then headed home to file my reports, the domestic carer was here doing some housework for us as usual.  I also have a mystery shop in a take away in Filton, so, we headed out completed the mystery shop and then headed to a Brewers Fayre in Filton where we met our son. After lunch we headed home with our son and Mrs W headed to bed for her afternoon nap, I filed my report on the take away. Then headed out to collect our daughter from school. Before doing so my son and I played on his PS3, dare I say it I am actually improving my skill on his game we play on too!

After the school run I headed home to find our son had cleaned out the chickens and pressure washed the path in the rear garden, I then headed into the shower for a hot shower, got changed and headed out to Mecca Bingo for a night of Bingo and of course our regular curry as Wednesday is curry night there. Lets hope my run of good luck persists there as it does not seem to be continuing at Gala bingo. A shame really as Gala is our nearest and most convenient bingo club

Tuesday, 1 February 2011

1st February 2011

Well we headed to Mecca bingo last night and won £60.00 the first was on a full house of £50.00 and then the very next game I got the 1 line prize of £10.00. We kept coming close after that but we got no cigar! we headed home from Bingo and gave the children bus money so we could catch a little extra sleep this morning. I heard our daughter head out of the house but nothing from our son, I headed into his room to find him in bed, he had a cough yesterday and this morning he had a temperature and sore throat as well, he slept on and was not going to college. He did send me a message on my mobile phone, which was downstairs over night so I never got the message. I then had to head out to let the chickens out as our daughter had not done so, they were making a right old noise until I let them out.

I tried heading back to bed for a while but it was too late, after going out to let the chickens out I found myself wide awake and unable to get back to sleep. So I relented and got out of bed and made breakfast for myself and Mrs W, our son remained in bed for much of the day.

I headed out to the local supermarket and bought the days groceries, I also accepted a mystery shopping visit that I need to carry out tomorrow during the day. That is the wonderful thing about mobile phones, communication can be instant. To some that is a problem I guess, but when fastest finger gets the job is important it is really helpful to have a reliable mobile with internet connection.

After shopping Mrs W and I headed to lunch at a local pub I even had a dessert, I really must try and remember that the question " would you like a dessert?"  is an open question and I can in fact say no to it!

This evening we headed to Gala Bingo and used the winnings from Mecca to pay for some of our evening out. Gala had free bingo tonight and it is our nearest club. We did not have a win, so tomorrow we might head to Mecca to see if we can have a win there.
